Retail Cleaning in London
Retail cleaning is necessary but is also easy to overlook. After all, if you’re focused on running your business, regular retail cleaning can feel like an inefficient use of your time.
Luckily, Cleaning Express is here to help. Our retail cleaning services will keep your store or shopping centre clean for employees and customers, allowing you to focus on getting your business to thrive.
What Our Retail Cleaning Covers
Retail cleaning is important for keeping your shop or showroom both clean and safe. While a bit of dust isn’t much of a concern, dirty or slippery floors can present a hazard for customers and employees. So, cleaning a retail space is as much about health and safety as it is about cleanliness.
Our retail cleaning services cover all essential aspects of a clean shop or showroom. Typically, this includes:
- Cleaning staff kitchen and break areas
- Cleaning public and staff bathrooms
- Hoovering, mopping and other floor cleaning
- Dusting
- Cleaning and sanitising store furniture
- Keeping storage areas tidy
Not all of these jobs will apply to your retail space, but we’ll tailor our services to suit your needs. This ensures you only pay for what you need and that we send the correct number of cleaners to get the job done quickly and efficiently.
Legal Requirements for Retailers
You may already be aware of your legal requirements related to shop cleaning. As a retail cleaning company, we ensure our services meet legal requirements as needed from our side. The most important aspects of the law are:
Health & safety
As mentioned, health and safety is essential. This means having clean and slip and trip-free floors. Along with general maintenance, it’s essential to deal with any spills immediately.
Food safety
Food retailers must ensure they comply with Food Standards Agency laws around the storage of food. Spills must be dealt with thoroughly and cleaning products must comply with BS EN13697 and BS EN1276 standards.
We make sure that all our cleaning products meet the required standards. However, if you have specific needs for the products you can use in your retail space, and you have a supplier, we’ll be happy to use those instead.
Our Retail Cleaning Process
So, how does it all work? Our retail cleaning process is pretty straightforward and, generally, there’s not much you have to do.
The first step is for you to make contact by either calling us or filling in the form below. Once we have your details, we’ll reach out to discuss your needs. This discovery call will cover things like your location, the size of your space, and the type of cleaning you need.
To ensure we’re offering the best service possible, we’ll follow up with a visit. Doing so means we can get a better idea of the retail store cleaning you need. Seeing your store or showroom allows us to determine how many cleaners you’ll need and how often they’ll need to visit.
Of course, we’ll discuss this with you as part of the quote. We typically arrange our visits on a daily or weekly basis, but this will depend on the size of your store as well as the products you sell. For example, a supermarket will need cleaning more often than a card shop.
From there, we’ll come up with a proposal and individual plan suited to your needs and budget. This means we can all be on the same page before we start working and that you’ll have clear expectations for what we offer.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a retail cleaner?
A retail cleaner is, unsurprisingly, a cleaner who’s trained to clean retail spaces. Typically, this means they’re aware of legal compliance regarding food storage, safe cleaning products, and so on.
How much does a professional cleaning service cost?
We generally don’t provide costs until we have a better understanding of the job. This is because professional cleaning of a convenience store will be a lot less than an industrial estate warehouse unit, for example. However, we gather plenty of information to provide you with a reasonable and cost-effective quote.
What areas do you cover for retail cleaning?
Cleaning Express covers various areas in London. Our list is constantly expanding as our team of cleaning experts grows. So get in touch to let us know where you are and we’ll tell you whether we cover your area.
How are cleaners vetted?
We carefully interview each of the cleaners and check their documents to confirm they have the right to work in the UK. We also check their proof of address and references. We created series of the online video trainings to upgrade the skills of our cleaners. Cleaners who do not have enough experience go through induction with one of our supervisors or in the homes of our management team.
Do the cleaners work at night?
Our cleaners do not work at night. We can clean your premises between 6am and 10pm.
Do you provide cleaning materials?
We can bring our own cleaning products and equipment as needed, apart from more specialist equipment. If you need services like carpet cleaning, let us know in advance and we can arrange it. Similarly, if you have legal requirements regarding what products can be used, we can sort this out for you.
How long is your retail cleaning contract?
How often should I have retail cleaning services?
How often you’ll need shop cleaning depends on numerous factors. These include the size of your space, how busy your store is, and even the products you sell. For example, supermarkets need cleaning regularly, and clothing stores often get very dusty. We advise either daily or weekly, but we can tailor this as needed.
Will the same cleaner attend every time?
For our regular commercial cleaning service we do our best to provide the same cleaner each time and we will provide a replacement if your regular cleaner is unwell or goes on holiday.
What if I want to cancel a session?
Please let us know 24 hours before the session during our business hours and we can cancel the session for you.
