Cleaning Express is continuing its expansion across England. Starting in London in 2015, we recently announced our move into Birmingham. Now, it’s time for the south of England as we expand into Brighton and Hove. This is a big move for Cleaning Express, and we look forward to bringing our experience and great customer service to the area.

Our domestic cleaning services in Brighton & Hove promise to bring high quality to our customers as well as great work for our new team of cleaning experts.

The Areas Cleaning Express Will Cover

Covering around 83 square kilometres with a population of 277,000, Brighton & Hove is a promising market for Cleaning Express. In London and the West Midlands, we have numerous areas we cover, but luckily, Brighton & Hove is compact enough to just say we’ll cover the entire area!

Provided things go the way we plan, and Brighton & Hove love us as much as we love them, we’ll inevitably expand into neighbouring areas in the future. So, if you’re unsure whether we’ll cover your address, just get in touch and we’ll let you know.

About Us

Cleaning Express started in 2015 with one goal in mind: to offer only the best cleaning services to London. Alongside this, we’ve always operated with our cleaning experts in mind, providing great working conditions and above-market pay. We know the benefits of investing in staff, so we’ve always made it one of our top priorities.

Cleaning Express Is Now a Living Wage Employer

Cleaning Express is delighted to announce that we are now an accredited Living Wage Employer. This means that every member of staff here at Cleaning Express will earn the Living Wage or higher moving forward.

What is the Living Wage?

The real Living Wage is higher than the government’s minimum, or National Living Wage, and is an independently calculated hourly rate of pay that is based on the actual cost of living. It is calculated each year and is announced by the Living Wage Foundation as part of Living Wage Week. It is currently £10.90 in the UK, with a higher rate of £11.95 for London, reflecting the higher costs of living in the capital.

Cleaning Express has joined over 12,000 other organisations, voluntarily choosing to pay the real Living Wage because we believe that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay.

What this means for our staff

The Living Wage movement has benefited hundreds of thousands of families across the UK by enabling them to earn a wage that they can live on. It allows them to focus on a single job and have a single income they can rely on. This ensures that they can work hard, get paid for that hard work, and still have plenty of time during the week to enjoy their downtime.

What are the Royal Greenwich Business Awards?

The Royal Greenwich Business Awards highlights and celebrates business excellence in Royal Greenwich. This year’s awards were held in association with the main sponsor U+I and the South East London Chamber of Commerce.

Royal Greenwich is home to 11,600 businesses that provide over 100,000 jobs for local people. In total, there were 12 categories and over 230 applicants for the awards this year. The applicants represent a diverse range of businesses and industries across the borough providing excellence to their customers and employees. So, it’s fair to say that we had some stiff competition in the Workforce Development category.

The Workforce Development Award

This award showcases excellent developments within the workforce of a company. When applying for consideration for this award, we had to provide detailed examples of Cleaning Express’s commitment to developing our team and offering more opportunities to local people.

During the application process, we detailed our commitment to our staff by showcasing our free online courses for our cleaning team. This 26-video course aims to help people seeking jobs in the cleaning industry become professional cleaners of the highest level.

We continued our application with our commitment to making Cleaning Express a safe, fun and exciting place to work for our teams. In the last year, we have improved Healthy and Safety training and achieved Health and Safety qualifications as a result. Noting that this has furthered the professionalism of our staff and opened up more internal job opportunities for those wanting to focus on health and safety.

We also showcased our ethos of empowering our teams, allowing them to get involved with company decisions. Decisions that directly affect their training, qualifications and day-to-day working habits. Over the years, Cleaning Express has always been determined to provide the best cleaning services in London. We are continuing to hire Ukrainian refugees who have recently arrived in London, as well as, people already living in the local area. Providing them with full training and offering assistance on resources outside the company whenever needed.

Our thoughts are with the nation as we mourn the Queen

queen elizabethCleaning Express were very saddened to hear the news of Queen Elizabeth II passing yesterday afternoon. Our offices are a lot quieter than normal today, as is the whole of London and the rest of the UK. For many of us, the Queen is the only monarch we have ever known. For the last 70 years, Queen Elizabeth has been the heart of this nation and has held us together through our most trying times.

Today, we would like our cleaners, our head office staff and our customers to remember the Queen, what she represents to this country and the legacy that she leaves behind. Here are our favourite quotes from her. Many of which we’ve installed into the ethos of Cleaning Express throughout the years.

“Everyone is our neighbour, no matter what race, creed, or colour.”

The diversity of London and the United Kingdom as a whole is what makes this country such an exciting and beautiful place to live. Cleaning Express has cleaners and customers from across the world and from every background imaginable, and this is something we celebrate. After the war in Ukraine broke out, we were overwhelmed by thoughts and prayers from our customers as they know that many Cleaning Express employees were directly affected by the conflict, and their families are still being affected. To those customers, we say thank you.

“I can never wear beige because nobody will know who I am.”

The Queen’s bold fashion sense over the years made her an icon of the fashion world. Her beautifully bold outfits shone an elegant light on any room she walked into, as did her wonderful smile. As more and more video tributes for the Queen are being released today, we have realised that this boldness wasn’t just confined to her dress sense either. She had an excellent sense of humour that we’re sure we only ever caught glimpses of during public appearances. The Queen was just as bold, bright and beautiful as her outfits, and I think all of us can take something away from that.

“In times of doubt and anxiety, the attitudes people show in their daily lives, in their homes, and in their work, are of supreme importance.”

Mental health is something that millions of us battle with every day, and Cleaning Express is determined to help all of our staff cope with any mental health issues they have. Our cleaners also help our customers, and our customers often help our cleaners with their mental health too. Taking a few minutes to have a chat with someone that isn’t feeling themselves that day can really make a difference, and today, there are going to be many people that aren’t feeling themselves across the UK. So, today, have a conversation, listen, and console someone; it may just make someone’s day a little bit better.

This wonderful quote from the Queen really fits the Cleaning Express ethos perfectly. It is as if she was speaking about how we have operated over the years. We’ve added many different cleaning services to our repertoire over the years to help our customers, and have made small changes to our practises and services to better suit our customer’s needs too. These small changes make big impacts and have greatly improved the service we provide our customers.

“When peace comes, remember it will be for us, the children of today, to make the world of tomorrow a better and happier place.”

As many of our staff have been affected by the ongoing war in Ukraine, we feel this quote from the Queen really embodies the conflict and the sacrifices being made. As well as climate change and many other world-changing events. It is up to us to make the changes that we want to see in this world. As a leading cleaning company in London, we are responsible for making big changes that our cleaners and customers benefit from.

Today is a day of mourning. The longest-reigning monarch in England has passed away. The streets of London are filled with sadness. The usually bustling city is quiet and forlorn. Yet, it is important that we celebrate this incredible woman’s life. A woman that has impacted billions of people’s lives around the world. A Queen that will go down in history as one of the greatest monarchs to ever reign over this amazing country of ours.

So, please remember the Queen today, and have a think about the impact that she has made in your life. And as we mourn in the Cleaning Express office, we’d like to share one final quote from the Queen to celebrate her amazing life and her wonderful sense of humour. She was once asked why she carried her purse with her while she was at home in Buckingham Palace. To which the Queen replied, “this house is very big, you know”.

The Cleaning Express team is made up of many people from different countries around the world, including Ukraine, so we’d like to welcome you to the city that welcomed us so warmly and openly. Whether you have cleaning experience or not, we can provide full training with the cleaning equipment we use. We take pride in our cleaning work because it offers Londoners clean and safe environments to work and live in all over the city.

Good wages

All of our cleaning staff receive the London Living Wage of £13.15/hour or higher. We believe that our cleaners should receive a good wage for their efforts. We encourage our cleaners to work hard, and so we pay them well. Many cleaners across the city have to work incredibly hard to earn a good wage; some cleaners even have two or three jobs just to get by. However, the Cleaning Express team can focus on their jobs and do a brilliant job for our customers.

We also offer bonuses to our cleaners when they receive five-star feedback from our customers and have many other perks that make Cleaning Express one of the best cleaning companies in London for cleaners and customers.

Over 25 cleaners from Ukraine recruited so far

As at the end of October 2022, we now have over 25 active regular cleaners, who had to flee Ukraine after the start of the war. The cleaners work part-time or full-time and work on both domestic and commercial sites.

Bi-lingual staff

We know escaping war in Ukraine and moving to a new country is quite scary, particularly at this troubling time for your own country. We want to let any Ukrainian refugees know that many of the people within the Cleaning Express team are bi-lingual. Many of us speak Ukrainian and Russian as well as many other languages. So, if you feel a language barrier could hold you back, it won’t. We can provide all of your training in your native language if needed and offer any other support you need after your training is complete. We want you to feel at home at Cleaning Express and in London, so anything we can do to help, just let us know.

The conflict in Ukraine is escalating, putting millions of lives of adults and children in extreme danger. Many of our cleaners and head office staff have families in Ukraine, and we know that many of our customers do as well. Our prayers and thoughts go out to anyone and everyone who is affected by the war in Ukraine. Our hearts are with you in this worrying, scary time.

Innocent people from all walks of life are losing their homes and their lives in Ukraine at the moment. Families are being separated, and no one knows for sure whether they will see their loved ones again. Innocent people are trapped in the middle of a war as they try and escape to safety. We have invested specialised training for Ukrainian refugees to help them provided professional bespoke cleaning training in their own language since the start of the war. We have now recruited over 20 people working for our domestic and commercial customers.

OUR HUMANITARIAN AID

Cleaning Express has now organised two deliveries of essential items for Ukrainian refugees. One delivery has been sent to Ukraine and the other one sent to Lithuania. Many items have been donated by the company in the first couple of weeks of the war and many more essentials have been given by management, office staff and friends.
